The Corporate Risk Department provides a strategic role in the management of business risk within the Service by providing advice and direction on six distinct subject areas which are Liability Claims & Litigation, Business Risk, Health & Safety, Insurance Management, Environmental Management & Sustainability and Business Continuity & Security.
These subject areas have associated statutory and regulatory implications with which the Service must comply or face possible legal challenge. Additionally, the effective control of business risk matters are very important in order to ensure public expenditure in these areas is as effective as possible.
Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all Service employees and members of the public who may be affected by our activities is of paramount importance to the Service of which there is collective responsibility from the Chief Fire Officer and the Fire Authority right through the organisation.
The Head of Corporate Risk Department is Mydrian Harries who is supported in his work by five specialist colleagues.
