People and Organisational Development
The Department consists of three main strategic areas, namely Human
Resources, People Development and Training Delivery, and the principle ethos of
these collective functions is to enable employees to maximise their potential
to deliver organisational excellence.
The Department supports the Service in key areas from initial
selection and recruitment of employees, covering all employment sectors, through
to individual and team development, covering both professional qualifications
and operational risk critical training activities.
The Department also has responsibility for the Health and Wellbeing
of employees’ through regular Occupational Health Screening and Health Surveillance,
together with policy development for equality and diversity and advocacy.
Legal compliancy in areas of employment law are overseen by the
Human Resources Department, whilst the assessment of competency and development opportunities
are delivered and monitored by both the People Development and the Training
Delivery Teams as part of a rolling programme of courses and activities.
Statutory performance data is provided to the Welsh Government and
the Wales Audit Office as part of the Fire Authority’s governance and scrutiny
