Assistant Chief Fire Officer / Director of Operational Support and Improvement
Rob Joined West Glamorgan Fire Service in 1986 where he served at Swansea and Morriston Stations as a firefighter before promotion to Leading Firefighter in 1993.
Shortly after the amalgamation of the Dyfed, Powys and West Glamorgan Fire Services in 1996 he was promoted to the rank of Sub Officer serving in the training department of the newly formed Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, where he remained until 2003.
After a further period of operational duty Rob was promoted in 2004 to a Station Officers position within the Staff Development department which he held until 2006.
Following on from this he has successively held the positions of Station Commander at Morriston, Deputy County Commander of Neath and Port Talbot, County Commander of Carmarthenshire and Corporate Head of Risk, responsible for Community Risk Reduction and Operational Risk Management.
In May 2014 Rob was appointed the role of Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Director of Risk, with responsibility for Corporate Risk, Transport, Community Safety, Business Fire Safety and Operational Risk Management.
Rob took up his current position as Director of Operational Support and Improvement in May 2015 and has responsibility for Human Resources, Transport, Training Delivery & Development, Corporate Risk and Technical Services
Rob is married with two children and lives in the West of Swansea.
