Third Sector Partnerships

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is working in partnership with Third Sector agencies to contribute to the safety of vulnerable groups within the Service area.

Vulnerable people have been shown to be at a greater risk of fire in their own home than the general population. Statistics show that you are 6 times more likely to die in a fire if you do not have a working smoke alarm.

It is recognised that the voluntary sector is likely to have strong links with the more vulnerable members of our population and therefore in a strong position to actively contribute to reducing fire related fatalities and injuries.

Funded by the Welsh Government, the project works closely with the Third Sector organisations to identify opportunities for engagement and develop partnerships between Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Third Sector to access those identified as the most high risk, hardest to reach within the community, with the main focus being the delivery of Home Fire Safety Checks.

If you are a Third Sector, Voluntary or Charity organisation and work closely with the groups that we deem vulnerable – please get in touch with us. Many organisations may not have the capacity to carry out the Home Fire Safety Checks but can set up a referral system in place.
