Ammanford Fire Station

The station serves a population of approximately 28,000 and has a total of thirty firefighters, 13 of these being whole time and 17 on call fire fighters. Available at the station are a number of appliances. The Rescue pump is a traditional fire engine, a Rural Response Pump which has the ability to go where traditional fire engines can’t reach, also available are a number of specialist appliances. The high volume pump/hose layer  is one of only three in Wales and provides a national response to major incidents such as large fires where copious amounts of water is needed, or large scale flooding.

A large percentage of Ammanford’s incidents are to road traffic collisions and special service calls where their specialist appliances are invaluable.

The crews at Ammanford Fire Station have been proactive over the last 12 months in reducing the risk for the local inhabitants and visitor’s. This has included conducting Home Fire Safety Checks where crews give out important advice and fit free smoke detectors if required.
