Tenby Fire Station
Tenby Fire Station is crewed by On Call Firefighters who respond to the station when required. They provide a key service to this popular South Pembrokeshire seaside town. Tenby has a population of 14, 569 which rises to over 25,000 in summer.
The station covers the south east of Pembrokeshire including Jameston, New Hedges and Saundersfoot. The main risk in the Tenby area is the sleeping risk with numerous hotels and guest houses in the town and many caravan sites in the surrounding area.
The town was originally constructed for the horse and cart with narrow streets which are now very busy in the summer. Road traffic collisions are a risk on the rural roads in and around Tenby with an increase in holiday traffic. Tenby Fire Station is also responsible for supporting the response to emergencies at Caldey Island just off the south coast of the town’s famous beaches.
Caldey has its own fire station which is crewed by resident volunteers. Caldey Firefighters have at their disposal a standard fire engine as well as access to a multi agency 4x4 for accessing more remote areas of the island.
