Montgomery Fire Station
A historic market town, Montgomery is a pleasant place to explore with its mixture of timber-framed houses, cobbled streets and Georgian and Victorian architecture. Situated on the Welsh border, Montgomery has a relatively small population of 4428, is situated between Newtown and Welshpool.
The area of Montgomery is predominantly a farming community with the small town centre presenting only a medium risk in terms of Property Fires. The Station is however on a B road route from Newtown to Shrewsbury, as such, the Station is frequently required to attend Road Traffic Collisions.
The community of Montgomery is contained within a geographically compact area comprising the historic town and key settlement of the same name and a small rural hinterland of large farms.
Priority for 2014-2015
• Reduction In Chimney fires
Chimney fires remain consistently high in the Montgomery area. We will need to work with Housing associations, private landlords and professional Chimney sweeps to ensure that the maintenance of appliances, cleaning of flues etc. is carried out, following the manufacturers guidance or at least annually.
We will also deliver targeted Home Fire Safety Checks in high risk areas, offering home fire safety checks to neighbouring properties at every dwelling fire we attend. We will focus our energy on providing educational input at every opportunity. Additional home and chimney fire safety advice and guidance is available via www.mawwfire.gov.uk
