A vacancy has arisen as the Head of ICT Department within Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen. This role is 37 hours a week.

Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service is a progressive organisation and is constantly trying to improve service delivery as part of a broader efficiency agenda. In recent years we have upgraded many of our IT systems in support of our efficiency objectives and the adoption of cloud computing solutions such as Microsoft Office 365 has been one element of this.

However, in the ever-evolving world that is IT the Service cannot be complacent and there are many more technology related challenges for us to face. These include the further adoption of cloud based solutions, the integration of new business software systems and the implementation of the Emergency Services Network (ESN) which is a new radio and data network for all the UK ‘blue light’ services.

As our new full-time Head of ICT, you will manage and improve the existing ICT department and play an influential role in developing and delivering our future ICT Strategy.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for an astute and innovative ICT professional to work for a highly regarded public sector organisation that embraces technology and encourages innovation. Potential candidates must have proven management experience within an IT environment, a robust knowledge of existing and emerging IT technologies and the ability to develop and deliver strategic ICT objectives.
