Wholetime Vacancies

WATCH MANAGER A - DIRECT TRAINER VACANCY

Please be advised that Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service currently has a Watch Manager A – Direct Trainer vacancy within the Training Delivery Department based at Newtown, and is seeking applications from individuals who may wish to transfer into the Service.

Successful applicants will be involved in planning, coordinating and delivering both On Call and BA Initial courses to meet the needs of this challenging phase of recruitment. 

Please be advised the successful candidate will receive a 12% temporary training allowance in recognition of the flexibility provided by colleagues within the department. This allowance requires you to provide a minimum of 15 weekend days per year as part of the department’s commitments to providing courses for employees.

The Service is asking individuals to apply as follows:-

  • Current Wholetime Watch Managers who wish to transfer.
  • Competent Wholetime Crew Managers seeking promotion

It is desirable that interested individuals should hold at least one of the following:

  • Breathing Apparatus Trainers qualification
  • Road Traffic Collision Trainers Qualification 
  • A Fire Behaviour Trainers Qualification 
  • A First Aid/Trauma Care Trainers qualification would also be desirable

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and/or qualified candidate within the Corporate Risk Department based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen. 

The role will involve the management of environmental and sustainability matters across the whole Service as part of the Service’s sustainability commitment. The successful candidate will also work closely with the other Department functions, such as Risk Management and Health and Safety. 

The post is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday), and is expected to last for a period of 12 months, to cover maternity leave.

An exciting vacancy exists for a suitably experienced candidate to undertake the role of Engagement, Planning & Performance Assistant, based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen. The post is for two years and is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday).

The successful applicant will work as part of the Corporate Communications and Business Development Department in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Service’s Improvement Planning Framework.

HEAD OF FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Applications are invited for a suitably experienced and/or qualified candidate for the post of Head of Finance Department. It is essential that applicants have a full Professional Accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ACA, ICAEW, or ACCA). The post is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday).
 
The successful individual will be responsible for ensuring that the Service’s regulatory financial requirements are met and achieved in a timely and compliant manner. 
 
It will be the successful post holder’s responsibility to also ensure that each Finance Department function is maintained in the most appropriate and economic manner and aligned to the progressive direction of the Service.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and/or experienced personnel for the above post within the Estates Department, based at Parc Noyadd Park, Llandrindod Wells. This post is 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday).

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive maintenance service throughout Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service that encompasses both proactive and reactive maintenance issues.

A driving license is essential for the role.
