Wholetime Vacancies

WATCH MANAGER A - DIRECT TRAINER VACANCY

Please be advised that Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service currently has a Watch Manager A – Direct Trainer vacancy within the Training Delivery Department based at Newtown, and is seeking applications from individuals who may wish to transfer into the Service.

Successful applicants will be involved in planning, coordinating and delivering both On Call and BA Initial courses to meet the needs of this challenging phase of recruitment. 

Please be advised the successful candidate will receive a 12% temporary training allowance in recognition of the flexibility provided by colleagues within the department. This allowance requires you to provide a minimum of 15 weekend days per year as part of the department’s commitments to providing courses for employees.

The Service is asking individuals to apply as follows:-

  • Current Wholetime Watch Managers who wish to transfer.
  • Competent Wholetime Crew Managers seeking promotion 

Individuals should submit an application form, please see attached.

It is desirable that interested individuals should hold at least one of the following:

  • Breathing Apparatus Trainers qualification
  • Road Traffic Collision Trainers Qualification 
  • A Fire Behaviour Trainers Qualification 
  • A First Aid/Trauma Care Trainers qualification would also be desirable

SAFE WELL AND INDEPENDENT LIVING PROJECT CO-ORDINATOR (TEMPORARY)
COMMUNITY SAFETY DEPARTMENT – CARMARTHENSHIRE
GRADE 7 - £25,951 - £27,668

A temporary vacancy has arisen to work on a multi-agency partnership project to improve the health and safety of vulnerable individuals within the Hywel Dda Area.  

The post will be for 12 months in the first instance but there is a potential to extend for a further period. The post will be based within Carmarthenshire but with a potential to travel within Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion and will be for 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday).  
Mid and West Wales FRS is co-ordinating this project and the role’s main focus will be to manage the work with partners from Dyfed-Powys Police, Hywel Dda Health Board and Welsh Ambulance Services Trust to deliver improvements in the safety and health of vulnerable individuals.  

This will involve managing teams made up of case workers from the partner organisations and to co-ordinate joint visits to provide preventative advice, equipment and support.  The Co-ordinator will be required to work closely with partners, attend meetings and prepare reports on performance and make recommendations for future activities.

WORKSHOP MECHANIC 
TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT
BUILTH WELLS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified personnel for the post of Workshop Mechanic, based at Builth Wells. The post is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday). 

The role will involve carrying out routine maintenance, along with mechanical, electrical and bodywork repairs of both HGV and light vehicles, plant and equipment to an agreed standard. 

Candidates should possess an LGV Licence.

TEMPORARY HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT – OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH

A temporary vacancy exists for a suitably qualified candidate to provide comprehensive administrative support within the Human Resources Department based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen. 

The successful applicant will assist in the day to day administration of the Service’s Occupational Health/Sickness Absence monitoring arrangements. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role.

The post is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday). This temporary vacancy is to cover maternity leave and will be for an initial period of 9 months.

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably experienced and/or qualified candidate within the Corporate Risk Department based at Service Headquarters, Carmarthen. 

The role will involve the management of environmental and sustainability matters across the whole Service as part of the Service’s sustainability commitment. The successful candidate will also work closely with the other Department functions, such as Risk Management and Health and Safety. 

The post is 37 hours per week (Monday-Friday), and is expected to last for a period of 12 months, to cover maternity leave.
