Wholetime Firefighter ​Vacancies

The SIFT stage for the Recruitment Process for Wholetime Firefighters is now closed.

If you are a candidate within the process:-

If you have registered for this process and completed both Online tests, results will be sent by e-mail on the evening of Monday the 12th of December.  Results will not be given via telephone. If you have not received your results by 12:00 on Tuesday the 13th, please contact us using the following e-mail address:- wds@southwales-fire.gov.uk​ 

If you have been successful, you will advance through the Recruitment Process, being assessed at the Fire & Rescue Service for which you applied (i.e. either Mid & West or South Wales Fire and Rescue Service).  

Any URGENT queries at this stage can be directed to wds@southwales-fire.gov.uk.  We are not able to accept correspondence via any other means at this stage.

From the 19th of December onwards, all queries need to be directed to the Testing Centre to which you have been allocated.  These details will be provided to you in the near future.

If you have not applied but are interested in future campaigns:-

If you are interested in becoming a Wholetime Duty System Firefighter and have not already registered, you are unable to do so at this time and will need to wait until future processes to apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I get my results?
Results will be by sent by e-mail week commencing the 12th of December 2016 (form Monday evening onwards).

What is the next stage?
Stage 2 consists of Ability Tests.  Details are available via the Candidate Information Pack.

What if I have special requirements?
You need to contact wds@southwales-gov.uk immediately to identify any special requirements that you may have.  This will enable us to make the necessary arrangements on your behalf.  If you do not supply this detail in advance, the testing centre may not be able to accommodate you.

What if I can’t make my test slot?
Due to the numbers involved within the process, it may not be possible to accommodate you at an alternative time.
