Guidance for building control bodies
All building control bodies will be given an email address to post their application to. To ensure all relevant documentation is incorporated with the relevant application, building control bodies are required to insert your unique reference number in front of all attachments uploaded to the portal. We would ask that only plans relevant to the fire safety element of the application are uploaded to the portal. To aid ease of identification of the plans within the portal we would ask that zipped folders containing several plans are avoided.
Approved inspectors will need to contact the business fire safety team at service headquarters to obtain contact details.
Mid & West Wales operate 6 command areas that align with our local authorities. When submitting an application, the application will be posted to the command location relevant to the works or development that is being consulted on. A map identifying the command locations is attached below; this will enable building control bodies to accurately direct the application to the correct inspection team. The building control body will be provided with an email address and attach files to that email. It is important to note that only the attachments will be received in the portal and no other information such as subject matter or free text will be seen by the service. If all the file attachments are uploaded successfully then the building control body will get a read receipt for each attachment posted. Each command will access the BOX on a daily basis to check for applications. If the application is received after four o’clock is deemed to have been received on the next working day, this is to comply with rules governing the receipt of electronic communication.
