Reducing Arson

The Arson Reduction Team is a scheme funded by the Welsh Government, whose sole purpose is to reduce the incidence of arson across the Service area. Arson and fire-related crime has always been considered to be a challenge, and as a result, the team includes a Police Sergeant seconded from South Wales Police, a Fire Officer and 3 Arson Reduction Advisors which ensure that all incidents are investigated and implemented in the most appropriate and effective way. By coordinating with relevant agencies, the team will assist in targeting problematic areas and develop plans that target arson and related problems.

Wales Arson Reduction Strategy 2012-2015
The Wales Arson Reduction Strategy 2012-2015 (WARS 2) sets out a realistic agenda for multi agency working to help tackle the issue of arson, and links into specific actions within the ‘Programme for Government 2011-2016’ which aims to make real differences to the lives of people in Wales.
