            Tribute to Councillor Janice Dudley

Her heart was here with us, but she didn’t
feel that she could continue to give us the
commitment she wanted to, while carrying
out her duties as Mayor of Neath Port Talbot.
I, along with many others viewed her
departure as a sabbatical - a year out from
which we hoped she would return next year.

I’m extremely saddened that her departure is
now a permanent one and she will be dearly
                                                               missed.
I have been reading through the tributes being
paid to Janice and the respects you have
paid are testament to how much a part of our
family Janice was, and I know that we will all
remember her as one of our own.
Janice was a fearless lady, she fought
Janice had been a Member of our for what she believed in and committed
Authority for 13 years, culminating in wholeheartedly to her campaign. She was a
representing us as our Chair last year.
force to be reckoned with when she needed
This was the epitome for Janice and an to be and someone I wouldn’t have wished to
appointment she was extremely proud of, go into battle against.
Janice viewed the Service as an extension But I couldn’t help but smile at a tribute paid
of her family, we were in her words, her “girls by one of Janice’s colleagues from Neath Port
and boys” and she was without question, our Talbot, Rebeca Phillips, who described Janice
            Mother Hen.
as a ‘Glamour Puss’ and this indeed, is how I
Janice was a friend as well as a colleague and wish to remember her.
I know that taking the decision to step down
from the Authority this year was an incredibly Cwsg yn dawel Janice.
            difficult one for her.
