Wyn Edwards
Assistant Chief Fire Officer
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Wyn Edwards, 46, is the Director of Service Delivery, with the strategic responsibility for the six County Commands and Fire Control. He joined Dyfed Fire Brigade in 1983 and served at various locations across Dyfed including Watch Commander at Pembroke Dock and Llanelli, and Station Commander at Aberystwyth. On reorganisation of the Welsh Fire Services in 1996, he transferred to the fire safety department in Llanelli and subsequently worked in differing roles including the Year 2000 Project, Best Value, Technical Services, Health and Safety and Assistant County Commander.
In 2003, he was seconded to Her Majesty's Fire Service Inspectorate working as an adviser to Fire and Rescue Services across England and Wales. On his return he held the posts of Head of Operational Risk Management, County Commander for Swansea and Head of Civil Contingencies and Resilience.
Wyn is an active member of the Chief Fire Officers Association and is also secretary of the Service's Sports and Athletic Association and an active member of the national Fire Services' Sports and Athletic Association.
Wyn graduated from the Open University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Mathematics and Information Technology in 1999, Wyn was born, brought up and educated in Llanelli and still lives near Llanelli, with his wife and young son. His hobbies are motorsport, badminton, squash and cycling.
