Phil Coleman
Deputy Chief Fire Officer
Phil joined Shropshire Fire Service in 1979 and served at Shrewsbury and Telford in operations, training and fire safety, before moving to Powys in1989 as a Station Officer. He was promoted to Assistant Divisional Officer in charge of the Northern District and then to Senior Fire Prevention Officer in 1994. He transferred to Mid & West Wales in 1996 as Senior Fire Safety Officer, before spending 3 years as Western Area Commander. Since 2003 he has been head of Community Risk Reduction until taking up his current position as Director of Strategic Support and Development in 2008. His current role encompasses the Community Risk Reduction and Personal & Organisational Development (incorporating Human Resources and Learning & Development) functions of the Service. He also leads for the CFOA Wales Region on Community Risk Reduction matters.
Phil is married with two children and one grandson. He lives in Pontlliw and enjoys most sports, but particularly football, golf and rugby. He is a passionate Liverpool supporter, which does cause some occasional conflict with a couple of his principal officer colleagues!
