Nine people had to be evacuated from their homes this morning (13/02/08) following a fire involving 3 terraced properties at Viola Road, Sandfields, Port Talbot. Four fire crews attended the blaze, which was initially reported as a caravan fire at 05:05 hours. Six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and an aerial appliance were all used to fight the fire.

At approximately 11.30 am on 11/02/08, three fire engines from Neath, Pontardawe and Morriston attended a fire at a multi – occupied property at Rugby Avenue, Neath.

Two fire engines from Abercrave and Pontardawe were this morning (7th Feb 08) mobilised to a house fire at the Gurnos estate, Ystradgynlais in the upper Swansea Valley. Four fire–fighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and led two female occupiers to safety both of whom were treated by Paramedics at the scene for smoke inhalation before being conveyed to hospital. The fire which had broken out in the first–floor rear bedroom was extinguished using a hose–reel jet.
