A 100 mile cycle ride undertaken in October 2007 has raised nearly £4,000 for the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund and the Wales Air Ambulance.

At approx 15:50 hours on Thursday 31st January two fire engines from Knighton and Presteigne were called out to a fire at a flat in Hatfield Court, Knighton. Upon arrival, the crew from Knighton was faced with a severe fire in the ground floor flat. Two crew members wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet entered the property, they quickly ascertained that no persons were in the property, and extinguished the fire. The flat was severely damaged by the fire. Crews also gained access to adjoining flats to check for fire and smoke spread. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental.

Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Wednesday 7 February at 06:45hrs involving two large goods vehicles. The incident occurred on the Bwlch to Brecon Road, Powys Fortunately no one was injured, however a potential crisis was averted by Fire and Rescue Service intervention as one of the vehicles involved was carrying a large quantity of potentially dangerous chemicals.
