Recent Incidents:
01/09/2008 : 20:40:00 - Four fire engines from Powys attended a road traffic collision involving two private vehicles on the A470 Llangurig road. One male person who had been trapped was extricated by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment.      01/09/2008 : 17:06:00 - Three fire engines from Powys attended a road traffic collision on the A44 Aberystwyth side of Llangurig where two light vehicles had collided. Two persons who had been trapped were released by firefighters and the car was secured using a Tirfor winch. The casualties were conveyed to hospital, one by air and one by road ambulance.      31/08/2008 : 19:27:00 - Three fire engines were called to a two storey building at Abbey Mills, Neath. Two main jets were used to fight the fire and asbestos was present in building.      31/08/2008 : 15:39:00 - Two fire engines were called to High Street, Cardigan and firefighters using a turntable ladder rescued a seagull from a chimney pot. The seagull had been held by a fishing hook and line.      21/08/2008 : 14:42:00 - Two fire engines from Powys and a landrover from Oswestry were mobilised to a road traffic collision involving two heavy goods vehicles and a private motor vehicle on the A483 Four Crosses to Llanymynech Road, approximately five miles from Welshpool. Firefighters released one person who had been severely trapped by using hydraulic cutting equipment.      20/08/2008 : 16:22:48 - Two fire engines were called to flooding in Pennant, Aberaeron where firefighters pumped floodwater from six properties.

Firefighters’ Success at World Firefighter Games
Local firefighters Sian Davies and Sarah Hallett from Swansea have won a staggering 14 medals at the recent World Firefighter Games. Hosted by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, this was the 10th anniversary of the World Firefighter Games.

Rescue of lady from water slide
Fire crews were involved in a complex rescue of a lady who had injured herself on a water slide in the LC2 Leisure Centre on Saturday afternoon. Fire and ambulance crews were alerted shortly after 5pm and on arrival were informed that a female casualty had back and shoulder injuries on the water slide some 25 feet above ground floor level.

Firefighters from the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to a driver stuck in flood water at Manafon, Llanfair Caereinion yesterday 04/09/08.

Local Firefighter Scoops Silver Medal at World Firefighter Games
Gary Price, a Retained Firefighter with the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and based at Fishguard has won a silver medal at the World Firefighter Games in Merseyside. Hosted by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, this is the 10th World Firefighter Games. The event runs until 2 September at Liverpool.
