Commercial Fire Safety Training
Fire Risk Assessor Course (five days)

A more advanced course for people engaged in work as fire safety practitioners and managers who perform similar duties.


Course overview

This five day module is designed to assist 'responsible persons' and others in meeting their legal requirements for conducting fire risk assessments.

The course provides an in-depth examination of fire safety legislation and guidance relating to Fire Risk Assessment (FRA). It focuses on the duties of the 'responsible person' and explores methodologies used in FRA.

Course material and handouts are used in conjunction with relevant legislation and its associated guidance. Delegates are confirmed as 'competent in acquisition' by means of an end of course assessment.

To provide delegates with the skills, knowledge and understanding to undertake FRAs in a wide range of premises.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course delegates should:
  • Explain the statutory duties detailed in fire safety legislation.
  • Recognise and define terminology relating to the principles of FRA.
  • Recognise ‘best practice’ methodologies and relevant guidance.
  • Identify and report on generic hazards and areas of non-compliance.
  • Produce an effective FRA in line with best practice.

Prerequisites

Due to the intensive nature of this module, it is highly recommended that delegates have good background knowledge of general health and safety principles.


Who should attend?

People who have responsibility for undertaking or evaluating more complex FRAs, or anyone wishing to attain IFE accreditation.

The course will also prove an invaluable insight for those managers who oversee other organisations that carry out FRAs on their behalf.
