Fire Reports
What is a Fire Report?
Officers of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service may undertake an investigation into the nature and cause of a fire, especially when there has been damage to property or injuries sustained by individuals.
The information collated during these investigations is useful to the Service and helps us improve our future operations. Statistical information is also used by the Government in order to identify the nature and trends of fires in society.
The information contained within a fire report includes:
- Times - estimated ignition time and arrival of Fire Service personnel
- Location - of property and seat of fire
- Cause - as considered by Service investigation Officers
- Damage - severe, moderate or limited to smoke effects
Requesting a Fire Report
Copies of fire reports may be sought by other agencies including insurance companies and the legal representatives of those who may have been affected by a fire.
Further details on Fire Reports can be obtained by writing to the Chief Fire Officer. » Contact Us
Please see our Special Services page for details of the costs involved in obtaining a report.
Please note
We are obliged to comply with Data Protection principles and therefore personal information can never be publicly disclosed. Furthermore, the supposed cause of fires as determined by Service investigation Officers is only based upon any evidence that is remaining after a fire and therefore must not be assumed to be a matter of fact.
