Job Opportunities
Trainee Procurement Executives

Value Wales, a division of the Welsh Assembly Government, has secured funding from the European Social Fund Convergence Programme to establish an exciting new project providing a pan-Wales training programme in public sector procurement.

We are offering a 3½ year fixed term training contract during which time you will complete a structured training programme working in placements in public sector organisations right across Wales. You will be supported by senior staff and a mentor. You will also work towards achieving the CIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) professional qualification to gain 'MCIPS' accreditation by the end of the training period.

We are looking for people with the potential to become trainees, but you will need some basic skills in communication, customer service and use of computers. You will also have to be a self motivated person who is willing to use your own initiative to solve problems. We are looking for non Welsh speakers and Welsh speakers too and people from all over Wales.

At first you will be paid a salary of £17,000 per annum, but this may increase to £20,100 depending on the level of qualifications you achieve. The aim of the programme is to develop you to give you the grounding you need to become one of the public procurement managers of the future.

Application forms are now available on-line at: www.wales.gov.uk/recruitment and the closing date is 18th February 2011. We are looking to recruit 12 people following a formal application process, which will include an on-line test and full assessment centre.

This is a unique opportunity to develop a future career. If after you have looked at the information on-line you have any queries, then please contact Allison Minto (e-mail: allison.minto@wales.gsi.gov.uk, Phone: 029 2082 3637) who will be happy to help.

Alternative formats of this notice can be provided on request to Allison Minto.
