Reducing Risk
REDUCING RISK

Our Strategic Plan for 2010-2015 sets out our determination to achieve excellence and build safer communities. Each year we will consult on what we want to achieve in the coming year and over the summer months we asked for your views on our Draft Annual Action Plan 2011-2012.

The Fire Authority has considered all the responses to the consultation and full details are provided in the Consultation Report on the Draft Annual Action Plan for 2011-2012. The final Annual Action Plan 2011-2012 was approved by the Fire Authority at its meeting on the 25th October 2010. The plan includes Performance and Improvement information. Summarised below are the five specific areas of focus for 2011-2012:-

Annual Action Plan for 2011-2012

Value for Money (Link to page 11 of Plan)

We are committed to providing the best affordable Fire and Rescue Service but also need to take account of the financial challenges facing Public Services. A detailed review of our Service is being undertaken to identify where we can improve our efficiency and reduce costs.

Emergency Response (Link to page 12 of Plan)

Our crews face dangerous and difficult situations when they attend incidents. We already provide high levels of training and want to continue with this investment and improve employee safety and welfare.

Community Wide Resilience (Link to page 13 of Plan)

The emergency service we provide is one of the best in the world, but we need to make sure that we can continue to support our communities in the face of the changing environment.

Environment (Link to page 14 of Plan)

We understand our role in ensuring that our environment is there for us all to enjoy whilst also protecting it for future generations. Our Sustainability and Environmental Strategy outlines how we will contribute to this agenda. Working with local partners will help communities to flourish and grow and become more sustainable.

Partnership Working (Link to page 15 of Plan)

Working with our partners is the best way to help us reach the most vulnerable people and to achieve our community safety objectives. We already work well with our partners, particularly in arson reduction, youth engagement, road safety, and in accessing our communities, but we want to do more.
