Following the events of 911 in the US, the UK government implemented a programme to ensure that the UK Fire Service had the capability to deal with such events should they occur here. The programme was called New Dimension.

Flooding Advice
Introduction

Within the Mid & West Wales Fire & Rescue Service area a total of nearly 31000 properties are at risk. Of these nearly 24000 are at risk from river flooding and over 7000 at risk of tidal flooding.

The Civil Contingencies and Resilience Department evolved following the introduction of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and one of its first priorities was the necessity for a fully staffed Department able to meet and comply with all aspects of said Legislation.

Dyfed-Powys Local Resilience Forum

Local Reslience Forums are co-terminus with police force boundaries, and are actively engaged with statutory bodies and volunteers throughout Wales to meet the challenges of the future through partnership and collaboration.

South Wales LRF

The South Wales Local Resilience Forum (LRF) chaired by the Chief Constable of South Wales Police was established in 2004 as a requirement of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. The group had been operating since 1994 as the South Wales Emergency Services Liaison Committee (SILVER & GOLD Groups). The original groups were established in recognition of the need for integrated emergency management procedures.
