Finalisation of the Risk Reduction Plan 2007/10SummaryThe Member working group set up to develop the Authority’s Risk Reduction Plan met on 18th October 2006 to consider the outcomes from the extensive consultation which was undertaken over the summer. The consultation period ended on 26th September 2006. The SPP department have prepared a report summarising the consultation exercise, a copy of which is attached for Member’s information. The Director of Service Policy & Planning and the Head of ORM took Members through the key outcomes from the responses received. The working group accepted the report and directed areas where the draft plan is to be amended prior to it being considered by the full Authority at today’s meeting. These amendments are incorporated into the final document Members are asked to consider today. The development of the plan has been compliant with all aspects of regulatory guidance and is on time and in budget. Should the Authority approve the plan today, it will be finalised and a detailed implementation plan will be developed with action points delegated to respective Directors, Departmental Heads and County Commanders as appropriate. Members should note that to comply with WAG guidelines the finalised plan must be published on 31st October 2006. At the JCC meeting held on 18th October 2006 the Fire Brigades Union asked the Authority to consider its position in relation to compulsory redundancy as a result of any proposals contained within the RRP. The Authority has previously given a commitment to no enforced redundancy in previous risk management plans. Members are asked to consider if they wish to reaffirm this previous commitment. The Head of ORM will give a detailed presentation to Members on the consultation summary report and the areas of change in the final plan agreed by the Member working group on 18th October 2006.
