REPORT TO RESOURCES COMMITTEE
DATE: 25th July 2005

Donation of two redundant Water Bowsers

Summary

The Service is about to release two twenty year old redundant Water Bowsers for disposal at auction in accordance with the arrangements for the disposal of assets as agreed by the Fire Authority. Members will recall that in February earlier this year it was resolved that any requests made to the Authority to gift or sell at cost redundant fire appliances or equipment be considered only when received from a registered charity. A registered charity [Wateraid] has contacted the service to enquire as to the possibility of the Fire Authority donating these two vehicles to them for use in either India or Africa. They would be utilised for transporting clean and safe drinking water to refugee camps where the need is greatest.
