Maritime Coastguard Agency Memorandum of Understanding

Summary

Members will be aware that the Authority is a member of the Maritime Incident Response Group (MIRG) and as such, has a declared Offshore Incident Response Team. The Service Offshore Team forms part of a national response for dealing with incidents at sea. This initiative is known as the “Sea of Change” project

The ministerial launch of the project by the Secretary of State for Transport (Westminster) Alistair Darling was held in Dover on the 20th April. This was attended by the Chairman, the DCFO and the Head of ORM.

Members will recall the discussions regarding the development of a memorandum of understanding between MIRG Authorities and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. The MOU has now been signed and came into effect on the 1st April 2006. A copy of the MOU is attached for Member’s information.
