There are upwards of 290 operational and support staff within the Command, operating 23 major pumping appliances and 18 specialist and support vehicles. The County Command and the Central Group Headquarters are based at Garth Road, Builth Wells, the Northern Group Headquarters is at Llanidloes Road, Newtown, and the Southern Group Headquarters is at Camden Road, Brecon.
As County Commander, I am responsible for all Service Delivery matters within the Command, and head a team of eleven uniformed officers:

Operational Risks
The Command covers an area of approximately 1980 square miles and has Industrial, Domestic and Rural Risks with many hotels and elderly persons homes and military bases in the Brecon area, with a resident population of approximately 110,000 which increases by many thousands during the tourist season.
Collaborative Initiatives
Llanwrtyd Wells, Hay-on-Wye, Presteigne and Montgomery Fire Stations are involved in a First Responder partnership, providing emergency care to casualties whilst awaiting the arrival of an ambulance, other stations will hopefully be added to this scheme in the near future.
The Command participates in the Powys Community Safety Partnership and many other local partnerships, like the Powys Licensing Forum, and other collaborative initiatives including National Science week events with Chwarae Teg.
