Charity Cycle Event
On April 30th at the Swansea.com arena in Swansea, a squad of 12 newly recruited Wholetime Firefighters completed 1000025 meters on spin bikes in a bid to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity and The 2wish Charity.
1000000 meters equates to (approximately) the geographical area that Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service protect, and the last 25 meters is to celebrate the Service's 25th year anniversary, which took place recently. The challenge took 5 hours to complete and so far, we have raised total of £1,650.
Firefighter Carwyn Thomas of Northern Division said, “We really appreciate all the support that everyone has given us with this fundraiser. Both charities are very close to our hearts. The Fire Fighters Charity support the mental, physical and social needs of all serving and retired members of the UK's fire family and the 2Wish Charity support anyone affected by sudden death in young people”.
