11 new members join the Business Fire Safety Team

Last month 11 new team members joined our Business Fire Safety Department, 5 are existing operational personnel and 6 are non-operational from backgrounds such as Computer Aided Design, Community Safety, Licensing and Housing. 

This will ultimately bring the total number of Warranted Regulators to 41 team members covering our Service area.

All 11 recently started their training programme with the Services contracted training providers K P Hughes and Associates Ltd. They are working towards their Level 3 Fire Safety Certificate with the aim to complete their Level 4 Certificate and Diploma over the next two years. This training will enable them to become Fire Safety Regulators acting on behalf of the Fire Authority. Their core work will include inspecting commercial premises and multi occupied residential buildings, investigating complaints, carrying out consultations, enforcing Building Regulations and providing advice on planning and licensing. The Fire Safety Regulators will work with small independent business and also Local Authorities, Housing Departments and Housing Department Association Landlords to ensure that compliance measures are met.
