Community Safety Team Attends Young Carers Festival

The Ceredigion and Powys Community Safety Team, supported by crew members from Builth Wells Fire Station, recently attended this year’s Young Carers Festival, held at the Royal Welsh Showground.

Held from Wednesday, August 23rd to Friday, August 25th and following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the three-day Young Carers Festival provides young carers from across Wales with the opportunity to relax away from their day-to-day duties, to meet new friends and to enjoy new experiences.  Information and support is also available to them to help them tackle challenges they may encounter.

Community Safety Coordinator, Gary Davies, said:

“This year’s event has brought together 330 young carers aged between 12 and 16 years old and the team are extremely humbled to be involved with such a fantastic group of young people for a second year.  We’ve been able to raise home fire safety awareness and have enjoyed showing them around a fire engine and giving them the opportunity to use a fire hose.”
