Mid and West Wales Long Service & Good Conduct Northern Medal Ceremony

On Friday 2nd June 2023, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service held their annual Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Ceremony for their Northern Division. The evening event took place at The Royal Oak in Welshpool.

Chief Fire Officer Roger Thomas opened the ceremony by giving thanks and recognition to the 8 medal recipients for their contribution to the Service. The medals and clasps were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Powys the Honourable Tia Jones who thanked each recipient for their dedication.

Also, in attendance that evening was Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed Rowland Rees Jones along with Deputy Chair of the Fire Authority Gwynfor Thomas and Fire Authority councillor Gwyn Wigley-Evans.

Firefighter Robert Bumford, retired Firefighter Simon May, Crew Manager David Jones, Firefighter Richard Phillips, and Watch Manager Carl Williams each received their 20-Year long Service and Good Conduct medal and certificate.

Station Manager Andrew Richards received his 30-year long Service clasp and certificate. Whilst retired Watch Manager Adrian Davies and Watch Manager Dai Gwalchmai both received their 40-Year Long Service clasp and certificate.  

The evening focused on celebrating their commitment and dedication to the Fire Service throughout the years.

Head of Northern Division Teri-Ann Parry who hosted the evening said:
“This was an opportunity to thank the medal recipients individually for their unwavering support, dedication, and commitment and to give a special thank you to their families for the support they have provided over the years. Thanks also to the Divisional team for all their hard work organising this very special evening.”
