On Wednesday, November 8th, Their Majesties The King and Queen hosted a humanitarian reception at Buckingham Palace to recognise and reflect on the UK’s contribution to humanitarian efforts across the world.

The reception showcased the human stories of those involved in the sector, from fundraisers to frontline workers, and those who have been impacted by crises.  The event also marked 60 years of the Disasters Emergency Committee.

In attendance was the Service’s Head of Southern Division, Steven Davies, who was representing the UK’s International Search and Rescue Team.  His Majesty King Charles III gave thanks to the UK’s fire and rescue services who contribute towards the UK’s search and rescue teams, who this year alone have been deployed to assist in Turkey and Morocco following devastating natural disasters.
