Bowls Section round up

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service Bowls section have been busy!

On 17th July 2023, the Welsh pairs bowls competition was held at Llandrindod wells bowling club, where 6 pairs entered and played in a round robin format. The overall winners were Ian Price from Rhayader and Eddie Williams from Llandrindod, with Mial Humphries and David Rowlands from Machynlleth as runners up.

This was followed by the Welsh trials selection process to determine the Welsh team that would play in the Four Nations in Derby.

The Four Nations Competition was held from 8-10th September at Derby West End bowls club. It was an excellent result for the Welsh team, winning 3 disciplines and the overall cup for the most successful country!

Steve Jones from Llandrindod won all 3 games making him the singles winner. Antony Williams and Martin Johnson from Swansea also won all 3 games securing them the doubles win. The triples team were third in their competition and the fours team, which included Ian Price from Rhayader, Mial Humphries and David Rowlands from Machynlleth and Tony Evans from Llanidloes won 2 games and drew the last game.

It was a fantastic achievement all round and very well done to the Welsh team who are all from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
