National 3 Peaks Challenge

Since completing the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge last year, 14 members of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service have stepped up their game, challenging themselves to take on the National 3 Peaks Challenge all in aid of raising vital funds and awareness for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The National 3 Peaks challenge which is set to commence on Saturday, 23rd September 2023, consists of climbing Snowdon in North of Wales, Scafell Pike in England, and Ben Nevis in Scotland. The team will endure 26 miles of walking with a total ascent of 9,843ft in just 24 hours, to complete the challenge!

MAWWFRS Safeguarding Lead and Fire setter Intervention Officer Jay Crouch is one member of the team that will be taking part in the challenge.

It’s a great experience and one for the bucket list for our team of 14 personnel, who last year smashed the Welsh peaks in 16 hours, including travelling. This year’s challenge will be tough with greater distance between climbs. It’s a great way to enhance interdepartmental communication, sharing what each other’s roles are, as well as life experiences, all while taking in the amazing scenes on top of the highest peaks in the UK. Our varied playlist and vast range of snacks will keep us going, I’m sure!
