Swansea Command is one of the six unitary authority areas encompassed by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. The Swansea Command serves the County area comprising 378 km² and a population of approximately 232,500, although the total population is swelled in the summer months due to the many coastal holiday destinations.
There are six Fire Stations within the Command. These are located at Gorseinon, Pontardulais, Reynoldston, Morriston, Swansea Central and Swansea West, providing, in total, seven water rescue appliances.
A specialist team of Community Risk Reduction Officers and Community Safety Assistants serve to further enhance the safety and protection of Swanseas communities. A dedicated Schools Liaison Officer ensures that all schools across the county of Swansea are visited and provided with fire safety education programmes aimed at all pupils in both primary and secondary schools. The administrative headquarters for the Command is located at the Morriston Fire Station, Sway Road, Morriston.
