On Saturday, August 10th, crew members at Aberystwyth Fire Station held their annual Station Open Day.

The Fire Station Open Day, which is well attended and supported every year, is an opportunity for the crew to engage with the community they serve.  Aberystwyth is a university and seaside town with a population of just over 10,000 people, which increases in the summer months due to visitors and tourists.

Visitors to the Fire Station Open Day had the opportunity to meet their local firefighters, explore the fire engines and firefighting equipment, which included a vintage Bedford truck, and learn more about fire safety.  The Open Day also included a variety of demonstrations and plenty of entertainment for children and families, with a bouncy castle and an opportunity to dress up as a firefighter.  Crew members also donned their aprons to prepare and serve food from a barbecue.

The Station Open Day raised over £1,000 which will be donated to local charities.
