The Selection Process

The selection process ensures that we recruit the right people with the right skills and attitudes. It also assesses your fitness, physical and mental abilities, personal qualities, and resilience.

The process includes:

  • Fitness tests
  • Physical role-related tests
  • Interview
  • Medical

If you pass the final stage of the selection process, you will be offered a place on our wholetime firefighter training programme.

You don't need any previous firefighting experience just a passion to help your community.

If you have entered the process via our Online Registration and have met the basic Eligibility Criteria, you will receive an e-mail inviting you to complete two On-Line Assessments.  You will receive this e-mail from 12:00 on Wednesday, 15 September 2021.

Details of the assessments can be found in the Information Pack for this process.  Your invitation to complete these assessments will also contain detailed instructions, highlighting what is involved.  The deadline for the completion of both of these assessments is 12:00 on Tuesday 21 September 2021.

If you have not met the basic eligibility criteria, you will receive an e-mail informing you of why this is the case on Wednesday, 15 September 2021.

Candidates are advised to check their e-mail accounts for these e-mails.
