We are committed to reducing the number of accidental home fires across our Service area.
As a Service, we work closely with our community and partners to make mid and west Wales a safer place to live, work and visit. In conjunction with the work we do with young people, visiting schools and carrying out Safe and Well visits we are also responsible for enforcing fire safety legislations.
If you have friends, family or neighbours that could benefit from fire safety advice, tell them about our Safe and Well visits. We are particularly keen to visit older or vulnerable people as they are more likely to be hurt in a fire. See our Safe and Well Visit section for further information.
At Your Home
We are committed to reducing the number of accidental home fires across our Service area.
On the Road
Responding to road traffic collisions is a major part of our work and our firefighters are often called out to help free trapped motorists or make vehicles safe following an incident.
In Your Community
We want to help the communities we serve to be safe whatever the weather, occasion or event. Celebrations take place throughout the year and the changing seasons often bring different fire dangers.
At Your Business
Our Business Fire Safety Department and specialist officers are committed to helping you understand the risks of fire and comply with relevant legislation.
Reducing Arson
Arson and fire-related crime has always been considered to be a challenge, working with our partners we ensure that all incidents are investigated and implemented in the most appropriate and effective way.
For more information visit our reducing arson pages.
Firefighters and Community Fire Safety staff from the Service will now visit domestic properties to provide home safety advice and will supply and install a smoke alarm free of charge, where appropriate.
These checks are the cornerstone of the proactive role the Service is adopting in its drive to reduce the deaths and injuries that are caused by accidental fires.
The provision of smoke alarms and other home safety items by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is supported by funding from Welsh Government.
