Around 10% of out of hospital cardiac arrests survive. This rises to up to 30% when rapid bystander CPR is implemented and rises further up to 70% when an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is used.
The GoodSAM app enables WAST to alert responders who sign up on a voluntary basis to 999 calls where cardiac arrests occur. In Wales alone, this is around 20 incidents per day.
The difference early CPR and defibrillation makes can be crucial - that's where you come in.
If you are trained in first aid, download the GoodSAM Responder App today. You'll then be alerted when you are in the immediate vicinity of a cardiac arrest, so that you can start CPR or basic first aid in the critical minutes before the emergency services arrive.
