Incident: Derelict Property Fire in Skewen

On Sunday, December 15th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Neath, Morriston and Port Talbot Fire Stations responded to a derelict property fire in Skewen in Neath.

At 4.04pm on Sunday, December 15th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Neath, Morriston and Port Talbot Fire Stations were called to an incident in Skewen in Neath.

Crews responded to one two-storey, detached and unoccupied property that was well alight on their arrival.  Crews utilised two main jets, one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus sets to extinguish the fire.  Crews also utilised an aerial turntable appliance to extinguish the fire from above.

The property was severely damaged by the fire.  Crews left the scene at 8.51pm.



Reducing Arson

This fire was started deliberately.

Arson is a serious criminal offence which can potentially cause large-scale damage and even loss of life.  Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has a variety of arson reduction and fire setting prevention programmes to protect the communities it serves.
