At 8.55am on Tuesday, November 19th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Pontardawe Fire Station was called to an incident in Pontrhydyfen in Neath.
The Level 3 Rope Rescue Team from the Fire Station responded following reports of a dog trapped on a narrow ledge following a fall at Pontrhydyfen. On arrival, the team quickly established that the dog, named Terry, was stuck approximately 50 feet below and in need of rescue.
Despite difficult conditions, the team was able to set up an effective Level 3 Recovery System and carefully lowered a Firefighter to the dog. Terry was encouraged to enter the rescue bag using his favourite treats and was then brought to safety. While he was very shaken following his ordeal, Terry was unharmed, and his owner was extremely thankful for the assistance of the Pontardawe Fire Station crew and the Fire and Rescue Service.
