On Friday, December 6th, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews rescued a casualty from a vehicle stuck in floodwater in Welshpool.  The casualty was rescued by a wading team using a rescue sled.

With weather warnings in place for most of Wales over the coming weekend, the Service is urging everyone to take extra care while travelling in these conditions.  Stay away from swollen rivers and coastal areas if possible and do not drive or walk through floodwater.  Floodwater can often be deeper and faster-flowing than it appears.

While the water in the image below appears calm and shallow, it was around 2.5ft deep in places.

Road Safety

To ensure that you stay safe, it is important to prepare for the challenges that come from wet and windy weather.
