Incident: Grass Fire at Llannon Road

On Saturday, April 12th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Llanelli, Pontarddulais, Tumble and Pont-iets Fire Stations were called to an incident near Bryn Rhos, between Tumble and Llannon.

At 10.51am on Saturday, April 12th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Llanelli, Pontarddulais, Tumble and Pont-iets Fire Stations were called to an incident near Bryn Rhos, between Tumble and Llannon.

Crews responded to a grass fire involving approximately 30 hectares of land.  Crews utilised beaters, hose reel jets, blowers, knapsacks, oscillating ground monitors and drones to monitor and extinguish the fire. 

Firefighting operations were prioritised to protect properties along Llannon Road.  The area of land was completely destroyed by the fire.  The images attached highlight the extent of the damage and the close proximity of the fire to properties.

Dyfed-Powys Police closed Llannon Road while the incident was ongoing due to smoke blowing across the road and affecting visibility.

Crews left the scene at 5.22pm.  The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
