At 7.31pm on Monday, October 21st, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) crews from Newtown and Machynlleth Fire Stations were called to an incident near Llanbrynmair in Powys.
Crews, along with other emergency services, responded to a rail collision involving two trains.
Dyfed-Powys Police has confirmed that, sadly, one man has died following the collision.
A further 15 casualties were conveyed to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening or life changing. All other passengers were evacuated from both trains.
This incident required a multi-agency response, with British Transport Police, Dyfed-Powys Police, Welsh Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and agencies from the rail industry also in attendance.
MAWWFRS crews left the scene at 11.11pm.
