On Thursday, March 26th, Abercrave Fire Station hosted a proud milestone for the latest cohort of Phoenix Project Cadets as they took part in their Passout Parade.
The Phoenix Project is an intervention programme for young people aged between 11 and 25, supported by Welsh Government. As part of the five-day programme, participants engage in Fire and Rescue Service activities such as hose running, ladder work and search and rescue techniques. Alongside these practical skills, the programme encourages personal growth, helping cadets build confidence, develop teamwork and learn how to stay composed under pressure.
This course was especially noteworthy, as the cadets returned to complete their Level 2 Agored Cymru qualification, marking only the third time a group has achieved this milestone.
On the afternoon of March 26th, friends and families of the cadets gathered at Abercrave Fire Station for a Passout Parade, where participants showcased the skills they’ve developed throughout their Phoenix Project journey, demonstrating their technical abilities and the personal progress they have made. Congratulations to each of them!
