On Monday, July 1st, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) crews from Llanelli, Cydweli and Ammanford Fire Stations held a training exercise at the TATA Steel Trostre Works in Llanelli.
The training session allowed crew members to simulate a gas line explosion and a subsequent fire, which not only tested TATA Steel’s emergency response plans, but also of MAWWFRS’s operational procedures for dealing with an incident at a lower-tier Control of Major Accident Hazard (COMAH) site.
Speaking of the training exercise, Station Commander Sian Davies said:
“This was a valuable opportunity for those in development to refine their skills and increase their knowledge through shared situational awareness. A tremendous amount of effort was made by all and I’d like to thank everyone for their attendance.”
