On Thursday, 1st August, crews from Glynneath Fire Station joined forces with South Wales Police, Dyfed-Powys Police, Brecon Beacons National Park and Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team for a Water Safety Day in the Glynneath Waterfalls area.

With the school summer holidays now in full swing and the appearance of the sun at last, the waterfalls in this area are becoming increasingly popular.
Accidents in the water can happen to anyone however adventure smart they are. Even those who are well prepared can find themselves in difficulty when in the water. So knowing what to do in an emergency is essential.
This multi-agency event was a great opportunity for members of the public to see some water rescue demonstrations as well as get some safety information and speak with the partner Services involved.
Always respect the water, no matter how fit you are!
