Women in the Fire Service were back once again with this year’s development programme. Hosted for the first time in Wales by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the all Wales regional event took place at the Cardiff Gate Training & Development Centre.

16 women from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the event, 11 of which were operational and 5 were support staff.

The aim of the event was to inspire females, to display and encourage role models and create a supportive network for future progression and development.

The event was held over two days and was a jam-packed programme of practical and interactive workshops, guest speakers and keynotes as well as fitness activities and much more.

Falling on Menopause Awareness Day, one of the many interactive workshops shined a light on Menopause in the workplace. Discussed were the many support options available to Fire Service personnel for improving health and wellbeing.

Overall, the event was a huge success that was enjoyed by all who attended. It gave the opportunity for growth and help future proof and progress careers in the Fire and Rescue Services of Wales.
