The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides the public with a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities, unless that information is already available either through this website, or in some other way.

Any person who makes a request to a public authority for information must be informed whether the public authority holds that information, unless to do so would reveal exempt information. Subject to exemptions, and sometimes financial limitations, the public will be supplied with that information.

If you wish to make a request for information to Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service under the Freedom of Information Act, you may do so, in writing only, to:

The Freedom of Information Officer
Mid and West Wales Fire & Rescue Service
Lime Grove Avenue
Carmarthen
SA31 1SP

or by emailing mail@mawwfire.gov.uk

To ensure that requests are dealt with as efficiently as possible please provide:

  • Your full name
  • Address for correspondence
  • Clearly describe the information you are requesting

Once a valid Freedom of Information Request has been received, a response will be provided to the applicant within 20 working days. However, this can be extended in certain circumstances where the public interest is being considered.

If you are not satisfied with the way your request for information has been handled, you can request a review by writing to:

The Chief Fire Officer
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service
Service Headquarters
Lime Grove
Carmarthen
SA31 1SP

Appeals should be made within two months of receiving the final response in relation to your request. This is in line with Information Commissioner’s Office guidance. We aim to deal with and complete your appeal as soon as practicable, and within two months of receipt of your appeal, in line with guidance.

If you are still not satisfied with the handling of your request, you have a right of appeal to the Information Commissioner at:
