On Wednesday, April 24th, Newtown Fire Station hosted the second annual ‘Connect for’ event, which provides the opportunity for local organisations with the overall aim of enhancing service delivery, reducing risk, supporting health and well-being and to understand some of the priorities for regulators.

The event saw 33 attendees from organisations from around Powys and Ceredigion to re-affirm professional relationships that were established at last year’s event.

This year’s event was opened by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service’s (MAWWFRS) Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Iwan Cray, followed by presentations from MAWWFRS’s Community Safety, Operational Response and Business Fire Safety teams, as well as an overview of the newly-established Community Risk Management Plan and the Service’s new False Fire Alarms Strategy that comes into effect from July 1st 2024.

There were also presentations by Dyfed-Powys Police and the Welsh Ambulance Services Trust, which provided an outline of their commitment to delivering the best possible services to the communities all the emergency services serve.

One of the event’s attendees commented:

“This was the first time I’ve attended this event and I’ve found it extremely beneficial. It was the perfect opportunity to engage with other stakeholders, as well as allowing us to share our current workstreams and local plans to provide reassurance around our service delivery. The event has also allowed me to form new working relationships, as well as build on existing ones. I’d like to thank the team for organising and facilitating such a successful event and I look forward to the next one.”

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is proud to be able to deliver an event that provides the opportunity to develop relationships with and work alongside other local organisations.
