Several crews from the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) recently took part in a dynamic training exercise, set against the backdrop of the National Trust’s historic Dinefwr Park and Newton House in Llandeilo.
The scenario was designed to rigorously test MAWWFRS’s operational tactical plan, focusing on the deployment of the high-volume pump (HVP) from Ammanford Fire Station. Crews were tasked with navigating challenging terrain to reach an open water source, which is an essential skill in rural firefighting operations. Adding to the complexity, the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team demonstrated their heavy lifting capabilities, simulating the kind of multi-agency coordination required during large-scale emergencies.
The exercise not only showcased the crews’ technical proficiency and teamwork, but also highlighted the importance of adaptability in unpredictable environments. The session was deemed a success and will serve as a valuable reference point for future incident response planning.
